I found this link-up survey via Patricia’s blog, and figured it was about time that I got more ~involved~ in the blogging community. Also, I love surveys.

Night Owl Venting

1. What is a challenging thing that you deal with in every day life? Let’s skip the obvious chronic illness thing because I harp on about it enough already and go to the next challenging thing I have to deal with. I wouldn’t say it happens every day, but I get into a lot of arguments simply because almost everyone I know has completely different opinions to me. It’s challenging being challenging.

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I see myself healthy with a job in my field after getting my Master’s degree. Most likely living overseas, and if Sam and I are financially comfortable and I’m healthy, at least thinking about babies.

3. Who has had a major impact on your life and why? There have been quite a few people who have had a major impact on my life. My family are the obvious front-runners for ‘making me who I am’, but four other people have had a hand in that too.

The first was a teacher I had when I was 11-12. I had behavioural issues which stemmed from depression and the expectations of me being “gifted”. He was the only person to recognise and actually do something about it.

The second was the psychologist who cleared me of depression when I was 17. I think the ‘why’ is pretty obvious here.

The third was the ex-boyfriend who gave me the bout of glandular fever which resulted in my ME and FM. Again, the ‘why’ is pretty obvious.

And the last person is Sam. Without him, I probably wouldn’t have achieved all the things I have achieved since meeting him. I don’t know this for sure, but he has been a HUGE inspiration and help.

4. What’s one thing you wish you could change about your life? I wish I wasn’t sick.

5. What was your dream job as a child? I had many. Vet, zoologist, marine biologist, English teacher, speech therapist, science teacher, librarian, economist and web designer.

6. What was your favorite activity as a child? I was pretty big on arts & crafts despite being one of the least artistic people ever.

7. Where is your faith with God? I am an atheist. I think that’s all I really need to say about that.

8. Name 1 thing that you enjoy cooking and share the recipe. Pumpkin & Spinach Lasagne.

9. What’s one thing you wish you had learned by the time you were 18? Having a boyfriend is not as important as you think they are.

10. If you do one thing that you normally dont do on a regular basis, what would it be? Run!

11. What’s one chore you hate to do on a daily basis? I’m a weirdo who loves chores, but standing over a sink for half an hour scrubbing pots and pans sucks so bad.

12. If you had the money and could get your dream car, what would it be? A purple VW Beetle that never breaks down/isn’t expensive to fix because this seems to be brought up every time I mention I want a Beetle.

13. Name one book you can read over and over and it never gets old. Lord of the Rings. I haven’t read it in years, because holding a book of that size up is pretty difficult when you get exhausted as easily as I do. This is why I’m only 2/3rd of the way through the second A Song of Ice and Fire book despite having the series for at least a year and a half now!

14. What’s one movie you like to watch and it never gets old? Mean Girls.

15. State a quote that you live by. “I’m not insane, I’m not insane, I’m just smarter than you!” — Devin Townsend.

16. When’s the last time you’ve been to church and do you plan on going back and if so when? When I was 6. And no, I don’t plan on going back.

17. Do you diet daily and if so what kind of diet is it and what does it consist of? Nope. I eat what I want when I want, but “what I want” includes a whole lot of healthy stuff. There are times when I go to the supermarket and my basket is full of salad, fruit salad, nuts and salmon. I frickin’ love salmon.

18. What’s the craziest thing you did as a teen? I was a pretty boring, typical teenager. I get getting drunk before I was legally allowed to was the craziest thing. Haha.

19. What’s the world “friendship” mean to you and do you have true friends that you can count on no matter what? Someone who is there for you whenever you need them, and no, I don’t have friends I can count on. Very few people want to be friends with someone who is chronically ill. I’m okay with this though.

20. Name 1 feature you like to have in a friend. Patience.
