The Only Thing That’s Being Reinforced…

… is my hatred of behavioural psychology. THE FLOOR IS ELECTRIFIED.

Seeing as I have dropped out for the semester1, I’ve been having a look at the papers available next semester for when I (hopefully) return to finish this damn postgraduate diploma. The papers I was taking this semester were straight up horrible because they were basically the only ones available to me so I was hoping to avoid the same thing next semester.

The name that rings a bell!
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to because my options are as follows:

  • Applications of Behaviour Analysis
  • Recent Research in Behaviour Analysis

And just so you know why this is a problem, these are the papers I was taking this semester:

  • Applied Behaviour Analysis: Theory and Issues
  • Behaviour Analysis Research and Theory

I’m really not joking when I say I hate behavioural psych. I know I’m probably at the wrong university for someone who hates behavioural psych this much2, but this is ridiculous. I should have done Honours. It would have meant I could fill in the gaps left by the crappy selection of papers with a dissertation. But nope, I decided to take the lazy route which actually ended up being the frustrating one. Good one, Darnielle.

It’d be totally awesome if maybe the reason they’re taking so long to process my application for a medical withdrawal is because they’re actually deciding whether to just award me with my PGDip because I can obviously do the work to a B+ standard. HA! Wishful thinking.

The only thing behavioural psychology is good for is jokes about Pavlov’s name ringing a bell.

  1. If you missed where I talked about this, it’s here.
  2. It’s the leading behavioural psych university in NZ… I think?
